Diabeteswise WEBSITE ux design samples

For people living with diabetes (PWDs), the process of navigating options for diabetes technology can be overwhelming and heavily influenced by healthcare provider biases. The Device Finder was added to the website as an interactive feature aimed at addressing this problem for PWDs. After several rounds of user feedback and design iterations a final working design is currently live on the website. Below are two samples of my collaborative UX design work on the Device Finder experience: (sample 1) the compare page experience and (sample 2) the printable report.

Device Finder Compare Page (sample 1)

The purpose of the Compare page:

  • confirm user’s selection of what is being compared (max 3)

  • serve the user with comparison information that is clear, trustworthy, and easy to follow

  • maintain the user’s momentum for this behavior change journey with relevant and actionable next steps

Opportunity: How might we simplify the experience of comparing diabetes technology options on DiabetesWise and increase through-put of the user flow?

Outcome: DiabetesWise Device Finder Comparison feature https://diabeteswise.org/device-finder

Before

The before state of the design presents the user with a long scroll through extensive comparison information to ‘Next Steps’ at the end of the page.

After

After several rounds of design iterations, the final design seen below prioritizes (1) information that orients the user and their prior actions, (2) actionable ‘Next Steps’, and (3) relevant information to support them in following the actionable next steps.

Device Finder printable Device Readiness Report (sample 2)

The purpose of the Device Readiness Report is:

  • to demonstrate readiness of a PWD to adopt a new diabetes technology

  • to facilitate a conversation between the user and their provider, and other stakeholders, about diabetes technology options that match the user’s priorities and concerns about diabetes technology

  • to support the user journey off the screen into the user’s physical space

Opportunity: How might we improve the personalized Device Readiness Report to be actionable and printable as a single page?

Outcome: DiabetesWise Device Guide Comparison Report https://diabeteswise.org/device-finder

User flow below shows touchpoints (email, printable report, and QR code for providers to see how the printed report was generated). This user flow was used to communicate design decisions during planning sessions with the engineering team and project leadership.
